Dry January

Written By Wellness Heights on January 4, 2021

Dry January is abstaining from alcohol for the month of January.  Whether you have been drinking more since the pandemic began, or are over indulging due to the holidays, taking a break from consuming booze is a good thing.

Some of the benefits of fasting from alcohol are weight loss (consuming less calories), decrease in overall inflammation leading to a better immune system (liver function and detoxification), brighter skin (water consumption), and better sleep (less disruptive).

If you have been drinking more since the pandemic began breaking that habit may prove to be pretty difficult.  Some ways to make it easier are to substitute flavored waters or make creative drinks with carbonation without alcohol, recruit a friend to hold you accountable, or go for a walk when you get that urge around 6/7 p.m.  Creating a distraction will help disrupt the happy hour routine.

Let's make 2021 a great one!
